Cristiano Ronaldo nominated for UEFA's Best Player in Europe Award

Cristiano Ronaldo is again among the ten nominees for UEFA’s award for the best player in Europe. This is the fourth edition of the award, whose winner is chosen by votes from a panel of judges formed by journalists from each of the associations that form UEFA. The award will be presented on 28 August in Monaco during the draw for the Champions League group stage.

 The winner will come from a list of 10 players and will be announced on 28 August in Monaco.

Ronaldo finished the season with top scorer in UEFA Champions league. He scored record breaking 17 goals in a season in champions league also breaking Leo Messi’s 14 goal record.

 Real Madrid star also wins the European golden shoe with Luis Suarez (joint top scorer) for netting 31 goals in league. However, Ronaldo took less games than Suarez to reach 31 goals.

Along side individual achievemnets Ronaldo made this season his best season at real madrid so far by winning Real Madrid’s 10th European title as well as Copa Del Rey.

The three finalists for the accolade will be announced on 14 August. As well as Cristiano Ronaldo, the list includes: Di Maria, Diego Costa, James Rodríguez, Lahm, Messi, Müller, Neuer, Robben and Luis Suárez.

Real Madrid Players pay Tribute to Di Stefano

Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas and galacticos Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have continued the tributes to club legend Alfredo Di Stefano, who has died aged 88.
Di Stefano passed away in a Madrid hospital on Monday, having suffered a heart attack while celebrating his 88th birthday last weekend.
Blancos president Florentino Perez called the Argentine-born former Spain international “the greatest player ever,” while leading figures from Spanish, Argentine and world football have also been quick to remember a player who won 5 European Cups, 8 La Liga trophies and 2 Ballon d’Or awards.
Thousands of fans are expected to say a final goodbye to Di Stefano at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, where his remains will be on public view all day Tuesday. Madrid players including Casillas will also be present, and the long-serving goalkeeper tweeted his thoughts on hearing the news on Monday evening:
“Rest in peace Don Alfredo, the greatest,” Casillas said. “Legend of madridismo, with us always. I will always remember you maestro.”
Cristiano Ronaldo also used twitter to communicate his sadness on hearing the news.
“It’s a very sad day,” Ronaldo said. “For me, for all the madridistas, for the world of football.”
Bale said Di Stefano had been an inspiration during his first season at Madrid.
“Sadly another great leaves us, Bale said. “Don Alfredo was an inspiration to me,his spirit & memory will always be with us! Rest in peace #EternoAlfredo

Another Hat-trick for Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been nominated player of the year for the 2013-14 Spanish League season and picks up the Di Stéfano Trophy in the process, the award MARCA bestows upon who it considers to have been the most outstanding player in ‘La Liga’ that year. The Portuguese striker has won the award for the last 3 consecutive seasons now.

Cristiano Ronaldo received the most votes from a jury formed by an illustrious group of players chosen each week by readers of MARCA.com


The Portuguese international, the highest scorer in ‘La Liga’, got 35 votes, ahead of Diego Costa, who only received 16. The Spanish international had a brilliant season at Atlético and was responsible for most of their goals. Barça striker Leo Messi found himself in third place with seven votes, following a notable second half of the season.

MARCA first awarded the Di Stéfano Trophy at the end of in 2007-08 season which was won by another legendary Real Madrid player, Raúl González. Then Leo Messi exerted his hegemony on the trophy for the next three years. The Argentine forward was nominated best player in ‘La Liga’ for the 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.

Real Madrid’s league title victory in the 2011-12 season was in large part down to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has quite a collection of awards to his name, including the Golden Boot and the Ballón d’Or, on top of winning the Di Stéfano Trophy for the next two seasons. So this year’s nomination makes it a hat-trick for the Real Madrid number one.

Cristiano Ronaldo's holidays at Mykonos is over after he was spotted at the airport leaving the Greek island.


The 29-year-old had spent some time on the Mediterranean tropic with friends as he looked to take his mind off his country's disappointing World Cup campaign.

The Portugal captain was unable to inspire his side beyond the group stages of this summer's showpiece in Brazil as Paulo Bento's side finished below Germany and the USA in their group.

Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to spend his summer holidays on the Greek island of Mykonos with a few friends, after the disappointment of Portugal being knocked out of the World Cup in the first round.

Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to spend his summer vacation on the Greek island of Mykonos after his team's early exit from FIFA World Cup 2014

The Real Madrid player and Ballon d'Or winner Saturday arrived at Mykonos Island, part of the islands group -- the Cyclades -- with some his friends but without girlfriend Irina Shayk, reports EFE.
Ronaldo also visited other islands of the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea on board a luxurious yacht.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘uninked’ for Noble cause

Cristiano Ronaldo confessed that he would never get his skin inked as he wanted to continue donating blood.

The 29-year-old Portugal footie ace, who reportedly gives blood twice a year, doesn't feel the need to get a tattoo as new tattoos can cause risks of cross-contamination and hepatitis while donating blood.

The Real Madrid star, who had also started donating bone marrow, said that he started the noble act when he learned about his team-mate Carlos Martins’s son’s suffering, News.com.au reported.
Ronaldo added that donating bone marrow was almost like drawing blood, and he would gladly do it again as he understands the seriousness of the disease.
